I would imagine that it's too early to say, although I'm sure that the word will be spread when a decision has been made by his family.

Dave, it was a great honour to have known and flown with you in SAA. You did great things to promote aviation in South Africa, and you will be sorely missed.

Our condolences to the family and all at Thunder City on their huge loss. :( :( :(

Until we meet again in the "big hangar in the sky" .

Rest in peace my friend.

Some years back I flew with Mike Beachy-Head in a Thunder City Hunter together with Dave Stock flying a second Hunter for a photo sortie. Dave was the pilot who fully briefed me on the use of the ejection seat system. Through the years I have interacted with Dave on many occasions and always enjoyed his dry sense of humour. On Saturday Dave was at the media and announcers area at TFDC approximately 30 minutes before his take-off time providing some personal details to Brian Emmenis for his display flight. This was the last time we spent time with the pilot who I have always known as a perfect gentleman. On behalf of all involved with the airshow circuit, our thoughts are with Dave’s family and close friends. ‘Dave may you fly peacefully in that great big hangar in the sky where we will all meet up again someday.’

RIP Dave, my condolences goes out to the Stock family. Was always personally for me a highlight to see Dave perform with the Lightning at the airshows I've attended over the past couple of years. Will surely miss him and his Lightning, airshows will never be the same without the 2 of them not being there anymore. He was a great guy, very down to earth, and had a passion for aviation as he always wanted to share his knowledge about aviation with others. Had the opportunity to meet him a couple of years ago a day or 2 before he managed to break the record where he attempted to climb to 30 000 ft during an display at Ysterplaat. He shared with me bits of info about the Lightning, told me some interesting things regarding the record-breaking attempt. That's how my love for the Lightning started. And like he said once: "There's nothing like the Lightning". RIP Dave, you will be sorely missed by many including me and many other Lightning enthusiasts. :( :( :(

To all who loved and would like to remember Dave. We have set up a face book page titled IN MEMORY OF DAVE STOCK. This page has been set up by his two sons and is available to anyone who would like to post photos or leave messages in remembrance for Dave and his family and friends . Please be sensitive to the family and let us all embrace Dave’s life and passion for the sky’s and love for flying. We ask everyone to please direct all persons who knew Dave to the page as it’s the easiest form of communication. The page will also have details of his memorial service asap.

Thank you again on behalf of his sons and family to all who have posted messages to both him and his family. He will be greatly missed.
