Helicopter crashed in Alberton, Swartkoppies. Two escaped with moderate injuries after a 30m fall. They were treated and transported to hospital

I know young pilot well. His parents inform me they are both ok. Some injuries but
not life threatening.

Looking at the pictures I would have guessed a poor outcome for the occupants.

Thank goodness they're okay-ish and will recover.

Will be interesting to find out what happened.

I think one could be forgiven for thinking that Robinson Helos fall out the sky like flies. It's just a perception. Please can someone put numbers to Robbie helicopters crashing over the last 12 months. Just the numbers, no hype, rhetoric or losing the cool

The PIC is a well seasoned pilot instructor and a gentleman. My prayers for him and the student, may they recover fully. Incredible that they are alive.

Kind regards

30m is a long way to 'fall'. What does that mean?

Unfortunately, basic probability determines that the more of a certain type of heli flying, the more accidents of that type will be recorded.
So these numbers will mean absolutely nothing unless you have comparative number of accidents/incidents per XXX flying hours across all heli types.
