Renew ATF

Last year I went to RAASA as usual - submitted all the docs and ATF issued within 4 hours . Today I was told this was now with CAA and it takes 20 working days !!!! and you have to submit 6 weeks prior to expiry . Most disturbingly I have phoned CAA 3 times with average hold of 15 minutes listening to the echo of a phone ring just to find out how much I have to pay before hand for this . It seems as if a well run operation has been absorbed into the bowels of government incompetence and inefficiency

Rant over - How much must I pay for renewal of ATF ? . any help appreciated.

OK found answer on CAA site -> Fees -> USER FEES. R 340.00

So what date do you do your MPI, and what date on the fitness to release for service ? 6 weeks before expiry so that you can hand it in for processing, then your MPI cycles will be 10.5 months.

I did my ATF drove to the old RAASA offices handed in a complete application on the Thursday afternoon around 16:00, the very friendly lady behind flipped through my documents and confirmed that all looks in order.
I received a call from Natasha the following Friday morning for collection.
Took 7 days.

I'm glad for you !! And can confirm I was also one of the lucky ones who got sorted in a week , BUT now we got 2 aircraft , same type, same AP, same equipment ,same paperwork , same time handed in by same person , FIRST ONE GETS ATF IN 9 DAYS SECOND ONE WAITS 7 ( seven ) weeks
So in my opinion you simply hope your files ends up on someone's desk which is willing and able to perform their required and handsomely payed duty in time

Now that is BS that should not happen. when I had to do a few tax clearances, same BS. Same paperwork, 1 week apart, 1 approved 1 declined, short supporting documents.

It seems that if you are able to take the papers in yourself then it can happen quite quickly. Most however, have to post their paperwork and this seems to be where the problems arrive. Not in the posting (miracles do sometimes happen) but in the opening, collecting, passing on, signing of documents, etc. The words "this can only get better" take on a whole new meaning.

Submitted 3 NTC aircraft paperwork on Wednesday afternoon 15h00.
Got all 3 back at 14h30 on Thurday afternoon.
Yes 23 hours for 3 aircraft.
Please note this was not a once off ---- got the same last year.

And coffee with LEO and received my LCC stickers --- thanks Leopold and AVCOM

Guys right on top of the new form it is states that you have to submit at least 60 days before expiry. Some of mine took nine days and some seven weeks.

Someone at CAA told me that they will from now on have the ATF lapse on the same date every year, but that your release to service will follow the actual service cycles.

Example: release for service end May, ATF issued beginning July. Next year ATF will expire end May because release for service will not be valid for June. ??
