Is this right???
R600 for call out fee for a weekday before 09:00 is daylight robbery. Not saying they must be start at 6am, but only 9am?? Is this correct, or are they taking a chance?
Any other places near Upington with avgas??

Yip, and the attendant is only a few hundred meters away in his office and not like he has to drive from his home.
I once actually watched him answer the phone when I called, drive the 200 odd meters to my aircraft and I had to fork out the R600.

Dont use the service then. It is ridiculous i agree. Dont go before 9 then. Its a pain i know but the only way the "get rich quick" oke will not get rich quick

A rip-off indeed. Not in the spirit of aviation. 
What is the current avgas price there? I did phone several times to find out, but never received an answer to that question. I was left unimpressed by the lack of assistance.

I'm not sure about the current price at FAUP, but they are normally the cheapest in SA, together with Kimberley.

Not sure on what the complaint is about.... the guy has to be up at 6am to work around your schedule... doesnt matter how far he has to go / or not, but if you want fuel at 6am then pay the money otherwise... dont

Indeed. Taking on around 400 liters of Avgas, makes the R600 look like kindergarten!

My view is that gross overcharging (in this case pure chance taking) should be met with the appropriate action on the part of the public. In this case use another airport. If we as the public keep utilizing the service and biting our tongues, these folks just get away with these ridiculous charges.
Point in fact is the AVGAS price at Lanseria. For the past few years the fuel price at Lanseria was almost R2.00 per litre more than the price at Brits. The price being charged could never be justified. I went out to Brits a few times to fill up and on all occasions there were atleast 3 other aircraft from Lanseria filling up there. I know some operators were quite vocal about this. Recently Lanseria have reduced the price of their fuel significantly. It is now relatively competitive. It seems management got the message.
