In another successful court bid by the Guptas, assets seized from the family and their business associates have been ordered returned — mainly because the state's case was found to be flawed.

What will be more worrisome for the state, is that courts think there are so far no reasonable grounds to believe that the Guptas and their partners may someday be convicted of the crimes of which they stand accused.

On Monday, the High Court in Bloemfontein ruled in favour of Gupta-linked companies and individuals who challenged a provisional restraint order to freeze their assets, which amount to about R200-million. In handing down the order, judge Philip Loubser said there were no reasonable grounds to conclude that the eight people arrested in relation to the Estina dairy project should have their assets frozen.

The Hawks and the NPA moved too fast, before they had a solid enough case, and had lost much expertise in the Zuma years. This is a bad loss.

This really sucks. The Hawks screwed up badly here. I wonder which aircraft they got back. I don't think it'll be ZS-OAK as that's been repossessed

Agree. There is a reason the case "does not have enough evidence". So then start again from the beginning and fo it right. The evidence they have so far cant just dissapear ...

Well, the judge said that Shaun Abrahams left out an important affidavit which influenced the judges decision.

And we know Shaun Abrahams history.
It all makes sense.

I don't think this verdict applies to the jet as the finance company had it repossessed and the case is still ongoing.

Yes, indeed - The Astina case is completely separate - a different case, altogether.

One assumes the King Air 200 that was registered as ZS-OAK was maybe written off, therefor the registration was available for another aircraft to use. Then you hear that the owners of King Air 200 ZS-OAK was asked by the CAA to change its registration, done free of charge. Now I want to know who at the CAA was owned by the Guptas, or how the instruction came through to CAA to facilitate the registration number ZS-OAK being taken away from the B200 so that the Guptas can use it?

I don't think there's any connection between the two ZS-OAKs

ZS-OAK (1) Beech 200 was re-registered as ZS-CHI on 14/10/2009

ZS-OAK (2) Bombardier was registered on 16/4/2015

Quite a gap between the two dates

I see the Gupta's jet was advertised for sale in Tuesday's edition of Business Day.
Don’t take things for granted… Tomorrow is not promised.
