I see Draco is no more as of the last hour or so. Mike and wife are ok according to reports
What happened? Sources?

All I can find is that he can't get insurance for the Draco for participating in events

Goodness, thats bad luck. Seems like a strong crosswind if you look at surroundings.

Wonder if insurance will pay as it is at Reno but probably not participation.

As far as I know he built this plane himself or heavily modified it.
Saw a video on it once.

I don’t think that’s bad luck. Luck seldom plays a role in these things

I guess time elapses a little faster for showmen than for the non.

Sad as its (was) a nice homebuild.

What a man to admit its his fault.

I am sure he will just rebuild and make a stronger and better Draco.

I feel sorry for the engines.....
Why is that?
One of the first things I was ever taught in aviation was engine management. Aero engines dont like rapid application of power and sudden reduction. The first plane I flew had a placard advising on time required to apply full power. Acknowledging that was some years ago and technology has changed somewhat. However. Smooth gentle application and reduction of power practices have stuck with me as appropriate practice to ensure proper safe engine function and serviceable tbo.

Most likely to busy planning his next daring stunt at blowing up CAA labled items to worry about Reno activities
