New Luanda Airport

Unread post by BenSmit » Sat Mar 28, 2009 11:11 pm

So here we are, the new Luanda International Airport under construction

It will have 2 parallel runways either side of the terminal buildings, now the big jet jockeys and charter guys can see where they will be flying in to soon.

Man it is far out of town, I recon 40 clicks, at least they are building a nice road

Wow, who wuda thunk. I do hope that they keep the radios especially the HF 8888 and the runway lighting from the existing airport. Without it Luanda would loose it's essence.

Dunno, for now I think the old airport will stay a while for small traffic but everything is brand new and made in China at the new airport.

This is the latest new I can find; http://angolarising.blogspot.com/2012/0 ... oject.html

Looks like the First Phase is due for completion this year.

I see Angola has a whole string of newly redone airports, especially along the coast. The new "Dubai" of the African West coast, just with loads more oil...and far greener than a desert.

Quite impressive, infrastructure is rising there at a massive speed. =D>

But this one South of Luanda has held a low profile in the international media and social media. Very little about its progress known since 2010.
the first phase of the new airport may be concluded in 2012. (Africa Monitor)
Google maps (sat images) also shows it as far from complete.

And... University of Cape Town's science department believes it has found a single dose cure for Malaria, which could tip the scales for malaria infested Africa.

Ah.... the rolling yellow tide. Wherever you go in Africa there are new developments being funded by China. Angola, Kenya, Mozambique, Zimbabwe, Botswana and even Swaziland. All our attention is focused at the "Muslim threat" and the Chinese mushroom is slowly but surely making its presence felt. Wait till you see whats going on in SA soon with them as well. And they don't give a flying F:-# :-# :-# about BEE either. Do it their way or they will replace you with 10 chinamen waiting to come out here. Who owns the biggest flight school in Africa (its in SA by the way) .... 10 guesses!
