2021 Classic and Vintage car day at FAHG aka The Great Train Race

Unread post by Kevin McCormack » Thu Sep 16, 2021 3:00 pm

On Friday 24th September a few car clubs (Classic & Vintage) will be driving to FAHG from JHB / PTA and surrounds, with the oldest being circa 1907 vintage, whilst Rovos Rail will be running the steam train to the Heidelberg station and it is hoped that all interested aviators will fly in to view the event (BTW it is understood that there will be a display by the Goodyear Eagles, and as EAA support the event there should be some interesting aircraft to see there), however please note the following:...

Please would any pilots interested in flying in ensure they check NOTAM's for updates / timing of any aviation activity and be advised that standard unmanned arrival procedures are to be adhered to.

All Govt instructions appropriate to current lockdown level of Covid-19 regarding wearing of masks / social distancing etc. must be complied with.
FAHG frequency: 125.90
FAHG elevation: 5120ft
FAHG runways: 06 / 24 (1.2km tar runway excl extensions)
Parking available on grass opposite fuel facility where there are some tiedowns set into the ground. Please do not park in front of hangars or on taxiways (Ground parking assistants should be on hand to guide arrivals)
Avgas will be available @ R21.00 p/l

Arrive overhead at 7200ft then descend on the inactive side of airfield for joining the standard left hand traffic pattern for whichever runway is in use. Circuit altitude 6100ft. There is a windsock located near clubhouse buildings and a larger one located about 1/3 way along runway 06. If congestion develops we may require arriving aircraft to depart the Tar runway at grass / gravel taxiways D or E to get to B taxiway that leads to the parking areas.

Looking forward to a fun and interesting day.

Safe flying to all.
