Contact details for ICASA radio licence Dept JHB please

Unread post by Snitch » Wed Jan 12, 2011 6:00 pm

Does anyone have the current name and contact details for the person dealing with new aviation radio licences at ICASA in JHB ?
Need to send in the paper work for a new handheld and want to make sure it goes to the right place
Or is it better to go in oneself to their offices?

Thanks

So I want to get a handheld license from ICASA as it is the right thing to do! Tried calling their numbers to find out how to pay the license fee . . . no answer?! :?

Does anyone know if the JHB ICASA offices are open and/or their phones being 'manned'?

Have tried their number several times today and it just rings and the Cape Town number listed on their forms does not work either - gives a 'number not in use' signal?

Considering ICASA stands for the Independent Communications Authority of South Africa I would say after all my efforts today to communicate with them that perhaps they are not an authority after all??
At the very least they should be able to run a normal land line telephone system before we trusted them with more complicated things like wireless spectrums! Just my 2p. . . :D :D

Postscript: Managed to finally get hold of someone at ICASA. . .

Phoned Jo'burg office last week, no probs...
This week I cannot get through either. Eventually phoned Durban and was helped by a very competent gentleman (Scotts accent and all). Try the Durban office...

For various reasons a licence applied for last year was not fully processed, and was only followed up when no renewal notice arrived this year.

Panic phone call to Jhb office established they reqd resubmission of the Appl and proof of fees paid by EFT. This was e-mailed over Easter and yesterday(Sat) someone working overtime sent confirmation that all sorted (and relevant licence number).

My thanks to those involved in resolving this.
