Is that price correct at R625k? I have never seen a Jabi 2 seater at that level.

The seller can ask what he chooses. If price is too high, it will kill the sale.
If one keeps bringing price down, it makes buyers suspicious.
Best is to sell at market related price.... considering market is down....

There is a huge difference between the earlier 2 seaters (sp's and J120's) and the J170 with the 120HP motor. The J170 in this configuration is slightly faster than the J430 and the inside is a little wider - so a very spacious 2 seater touring aircraft. The J170's have become extremely popular and this one should sell fast.

Flooi: What is a D model and why is it popular for training?

Iceman: Why is the airframe only on 250 hours and the engine at 600 hrs?

Thanks

I know the history of this plane, so will offer you the explanation.... The first owner of this J170 had a motor glider (Whisper) built with a new Jab 3300 engine after 350 hours, He decided to order a new J170 from Jabiru, but asked them to transfer his glider motor over to the new Jab instead of buying a new motor (which they did and then he sold his glider without an engine). Willie is the second owner who bought this aircraft about 100 hours ago....

Thanks Steve, makes sense now.

Flooi: Is the older smaller 170 Pete is referring to not the same plane as we know as the J160?

I am not aware of any changes to our J170. Maybe tail fethers same time as the change on that of J430?

Hi Biggles,

The very first J170 were I believe in simple term lets say a little twitchy on landing  the quick "cure" was to fit a rather large (Huge  ) ventricle fin in place of the normal small ventricle fin. Jabiru quickly and permanently cured the problem by completely redesigning the tail fin negating the need for the over-sized ventricle fin. I don't think there are that many of the earlier J170's in SA, I have only seen one J170 with the old style tail and large ventricle fin.

Cheers, Don.

Thanks Don

Yes, I am aware of the small rudder issue with the first SP's requiring the landing tap-dance (I had one), but was not aware of the same fate with the first J170.

I think I was misled by the comment that the J170D is wider than the original J170. That is true between J160 and J170.

I had the 2003 SP, then came the J120 (SP wings) and J120 UL (what a glider with the 430 wing). After this was the fatboy J160 (with either SP wings or later J430 wings) and then the J170.

Now I also learned about an even later J170D (was not aware)...... 8-[ #-o

Also did not know that it is slightly faster than a J430? [-(
