Fly Africa Virtual 2012 -CLOSED

Unread post by eea123 » Sun Jan 01, 2012 11:02 am

Let me first start with thanking everyone for the positive inputs and work in 2011 that made Fly Africa Virtual Possible.
2011 Was a very interesting year with the Airline Starting in February of 2011.
Lots of teething problems, operational wise and so on, but I think we came to a winning formula at the end of 2011 with the Fly Africa Virtual Brand as it stands today.
New startup Virtual Airlines don't normally make it for longer than 3 months before shutting down, and we have now been running for 10 months and still going strong.
This is of course only due to the interest and participation of some awesome people most of whom came right here from avcom! So thanks to the creators fo avcom too!

So what will 2012 Bring?
I think that 2012 will be a much better and more succesfull year than 2012.
With most of the problems that we experienced in 2011 being sorted out we are now one of the Leading Virtual Airlines in South Africa, with a strong footprint on places like VATSIM.
We finally have a great management team in place as well, With Cornell Blok as the Chief Pilot and Clyde Hayward as Fly Afirca's COO.
We are also working closely with a new startup Sim company Called SIM Express, they have been doing most of the livery paint's and graphical work for us, and we are looking forward to help test and develop products for the up and coming Microsoft Flight.

So let's get on with the immediate plans for 2012...
Expansion of the Fly Africa Virtual Fleet :
We currently operate the Boeing 737-6//8/9 series aircraft and the J41 as our only Turbo Prop, we will be bringing in the B737-700 Series as well to complete the B737 fleet for Africa and the Middle East.
Further more, we will be bringing in the big bird the 747 Queen of the Skies, for long hual operations to new and exciting Destinations such as TNCM ( St. Maartens ) and so on.
The Middle East : Operations to expand top the Middle East with the B737-700 Series Aircraft, Once a base is in place there Fly Africa Will be covering the Entire Africa and Middle east with flights the reaching into Europe and Asia.
A new Charter Devision : We will be using some new Aircraft here, the King Air C90 being one of the main aircraft and we will be adding some Helicopters too.

We will be growing much quicker this year than in 2011, and we will be keeping a look out for any new and exciting aircraft that we can use in our Operations.
We will be testing the new Wilco 737 PIC for FSX, if its any good we will be introducing the 737/3/4/5 Classic Series to our Operations as well.
There is a new CRJ series in development, and we hope to make that one of our Main regional Aircraft, togethar perhaps with the Embrear Brand E145

We hope to get more members as well in 2012, and offer a better service to all our members, our aim is to be the No1 simming community in Africa.

Thanks again to everyone that made Fly Africa Virtual Possible!
And wishing everyone a happy 2012!

Hi Cornell!

There is a new module that we will incorporate, this will allow the pilots to create their own charters on demand and select the aicraft of their choice!
Im sure this would would brilaintly and keep everyone excited by being able to choose where and what they fly, when not engaged in scheduled flying...

Now we must just hope the C90 comes along soon!!

Another feature that we will be exploring is Fly Africa Virtual Contracts.
This will enable all our pilots to simulate Contract flying across the world an a variety of aircraft, and would be a fisrt for a virtual airline

:(

Hollywood,

Eish im sorry to hear that the 767 isnt really working out....
This got me thingking.
Perhaps we should consider some changes.
The 767 that we are using with the livery for the Captain Sim Version doesn't seem to appeal to most of our pilots and the reason why it was brought in was due to a former member wantgin to use it, but never did.

So what brad of aircraft is normally goos works well and is popular... I would say PMDG all the way!!
The 737NGX and the JS41 has proven to be some of the best aircraft add-ons that money can buy..
So perhaps we should look at the following....
I suggest that we use the MD11 ( I am a big Fan and its something differant to the Boeings) and of course the 747-400X
the 747-400X has the added benefit that when you purchase the model you get both the 400 and 400F that we can use for Cargo this is true for the MD11 as well, you get both for FSX pax and Cargo Variations, so you dont need to spend more $$ to get the Cargo version like with the Captain Sim 767....

Interested to hear what you guys think?
