Rob or Bob Allison

ex ATC at Jan Smuts and airshow controller

Passed away today.

No details known but a memorial service will be held at Brakpan Flying Club soon. Date & time to follow

Oh, I am sorry to hear that, Ray: I remember speaking with him on a daily basis, aeons ago: was he about our age? Older than us, perhaps?

The inimitable Bob Alison was born in 1937 - 83 /84 . Gave much to our aviation community -will be missed by us in the gliding community.

RIP Bob, thank you being an ally against stupidity in NASCOM all those years ago. Condolences to family and friends.

From Mark Allison, son of our friend Bob Allison : I have decided to organise an informal get together to celebrate Dad´s life this Saturday at FABB at 14:00. It will be a casual affair to swap stories over a drink as per his request

When I first heard Bob control at an airshow I thought I was listening to a Battle of Britain movie sound track :D
In my thoughts, his last words must surely have been "Tally Ho"

Did Bob run radio licence courses? As far as I recall I did my radio licence course with him back in 1989 - had some interesting stories to tell.
