Would you guys & girls mind helping by noting which study material you used for the IR exam (books, question bases etc) that worked for you?

There is no easy answer, unfortunately.

There is A LOT of material coming from the CPL/ATPL exams. So passing those exams first would help for sure.

Some very tricky PNR/PET stuff (stuff you wouldn't even get in ATP), ICAO Doc 8186, human factors questions etc.

The actual IF part of the exam is about 40% of the paper. The rest is highly debatable. But check which fire extinguishers you would use on what fires, that seems important to CAA too.

I would highly recommend a good tutor (I can recommend someone in JHB by PM).
What I did notice, both for IR OPS and ATPL flight planning, is that the computer gives you MUCH easier exam on the 3rd try. And I've heard it from other people who wrote it too. (Those are the only 2 exams I've ever failed, I do not think that I didn't know my work before hand. I spoke to a SAAF fighter pilot who really knew his IF, who didn't make it).
