IF Rating on own aircraft

Unread post by Redbat » Sat Sep 15, 2018 12:19 pm

This topic was covered to some extent before.

My IF flying will be private and always on the same glass cockpit aircraft. I’ve passed the exams and would now like to train on my own aircraft which is not registered under an ATO.

Training on my own aircraft makes sense,as I’ll be proficient on the model and glass cockpit vs training on an unfamiliar school aircraft with steam gauges.

Is the juice worth the squeeze to try and arrange this with CAA? Can anyone give me some pointers?

Submit a well-motivated request for dispensation - what do you stand to lose?

Hi Red,
I got mine registered with an existing ATO just for my own training and completed my IF on my own aircraft. If I remember correctly, there was little/no cost...but you do need a friendly ATO
