Special rules entry and exit

Unread post by Jingo27 » Tue Apr 27, 2021 3:07 am

Good morning,

I am trying to plan the following flight:

-N0095A065 FABS DCT ZEBULA 2445S02758E /F075 DCT FAPN /F065 DCT FARG /A055 DCT /A065 FALA

It got rejected with the following reason: EXIT AND ENTRY POINT FOR SPECIAL RULES AREA.

How do you note the entry and exit points on File2Fly?

This is a VFR flight in a C172

Thanks in advance!!

I haven’t done this for a while but would file

‘ N0095VFR FABS DCT ZEBULA 2445S02758E DCT FAPN DCT FARG DCT ‘

Also that is assuming this is a cross country FALA-FALA

Failing that just phone briefing +27 (0860) 359-669

Hey Ace Man!

Thanks for the reply!

Sorry, I should have mentioned yes, it is a cross-country FALA - FALA.

I thought about making it a VFR flight; but that doesn't allow help with the entry and exit points from Joburg Special Rules as I would still be moving out of that airspace which looks like what their concern was in the reason they gave me for rejecting the flight plan.

It seems that teatime rules apply at ATNS as well. Ive had plans accepted without SRA entry/exit co-ords and many more rejected. It seems to depend on the screener on the day.

Interestingly if you use EasyPlan you can insert airspace boundaries into your flightplan - it can export an ICAO format flightplan for you and you simply copy that onto File2Fly. (of course you’re not supposed to do this for PPL cross country flights but i used to do it as a backup after my flight planning).

On that routing I’d have used FALA UTRUK and then onwards and then UTRUK returning - you can always then, once leaving FARG duck into the GF....
