FAPE ATC

Unread post by Liza » Mon Aug 19, 2013 1:04 pm

Hi,

I would like to find out the procedure to visit FAPE ATC.

I am currently busy with my PPL and would like to see ATC's side of things and learn how they work and how I can be better on the radio.

Thanx

Just park at the Engen, walk through the airport car park and ring the door bell and ask for a tour. Explain you are a pilot wanting to see what we do. I'll be there thursday morning and friday afternoon.

I'm Also a ppl student, and went to the PE tower last week to check it all out.

I just called ahead and they were more then welcoming

I was planning on checking it out for a quick half an hour but it turned out to be a well spent 2 hour visit! Really enjoyed the friendly attitude and enthusiasm I received, Special thanks to ATC instructor Mark

I Recommend anyone interested should definitely go !

I recon that it should be compulsory for all SPL's to "log" at least 10 hrs "job shadowing" an ATC.

Our flight school takes all students up to the tower at FALA to meet the controllers and see how they do a job. I think its pretty important as it helps us to understand why an ATC will do what he does and that they're not evil buggers out there to ruin our day :D

I love visiting the tower personally...
