With SB-83 and the cracking tailrotor blades. If you change the blades you also need to change the gearbox. I guess it will push up the cost of rebuild a bit :?

I think that this is only an issue for game capture/vehicle tracking type usage where a lot of flying is done 'out of trim'. I'll keep checking RUT but she is up to nearly 1800hrs and looking good!

Just filled up at Pietermaritzburg and the pump jockey was quite adamant that he wanted to see an "AVGAS" sticker next to the filling caps. In fact he was so adamant that he even provided the stickers :!: Apparently he is scared of putting Avgas into an R66. I think that it is great that the quality of Avgas is regulated and that the suppliers worry about water in the Avgas but I think it is absolute horse <<moderated - language>> that they worry about filling jerry cans and what type of fuel goes into the aircraft. It is my life on the line and if anyone is going to worry about it it will be me :? If I park next to a LARGE sign that says AVGAS then surely I expect to receive the same [-o<

USD1000 Bladder tank rebate if fitted before 31/12/2012.

Doesn't appear to be for US only. Will have to check with AMO.

Not forgetting that if you fit it before December 2012 you get a USD1000 rebate

http://robinsonheli.com/srvclib/r44_fue ... _offer.pdf

I'm not expecting my AMO to offer this to me but I sure as hell will fight for it.

My AMO arranged the $1000 rebate for me and I've received it back already. It really shouldn't be a problem, just a little paperwork.

Well, well.

I received an email to say that the paperwork for all the fitted tanks is being submitted and that I will be advised when the rebate is received. Thanks AMO :!:

They have extended the date for the $1000 rebate on completed bladder tanks installation to 30 April 2013.

Had mine fitted in Dec and rebate is currently being processed with RHC :D
Must say I have a lot more peace of mind knowing it is done after watching the video of the Pietersburg R44 crash

Just when I thought Robinson might make 1yr without fixing something and along comes SB86 (SB108 for the R22)
http://robinsonheli.com/service_library ... 4_sb86.pdf

Looks like a bit of extra glue is required to secure the rotor rpm magnets. It seems that one magnet fell out somewhere in the world and the pilot got a bit of a fright when his rotor rpm dropped to 50% :)

Needs to be done by 31 October 2013.

There are also two service letters:
http://robinsonheli.com/service_library ... 4_sl45.pdf
Removal of safety wire provisions: Safety wire is no longer required for various components

http://robinsonheli.com/service_library ... 4_sl46.pdf
Reusable air filters - how to clean: Lasts 600hrs. Not sure I like this one. Just another thing that the AME can do wrong. It was always reassuring to look through the intake and see a nice new white filter.

I see the FAA has made SB 105 (replacement of fuel selector valve on R22's) an AD
All A670-1 versions prior to revision "I" are to be replaced before 5 Nov 2013.
Had my R22 done last year IAW SB105 :D

The R22 bladder tank retrofit (SB109) was inevitable since RHC started fitting them to the new machines in 2013.

Compliance is optional and recommended, but not mandatory before the 2200 hour overhaul or 12 year inspection where it has to be done.

It's been a good year at Robinson! No new Service Bulletin's for the R44 recorded since July 2013.

There have been 3 service letters for the R44 in the last 6 weeks though.
R44 SL-47: Magneto Tachometer Points Wires
R44 SL-48: Precision Airmotive Service Bulletin PRS-109
R44 SL-49: C016-7 Main Rotor Blades

SL-47 seems simple enough but SL-48 is a mystery to me. Anybody care to explain?

SL-49 sounds good if you have a R44II with less than 8yrs and coming up to 1800hrs. There is a USD23,000 saving in upgrading to the new blades.

Thanks TF.

Does anyone perhaps have the PDF with the details of the R22 bladder tank for weight and balance purposes - similar to what Pete posted for the R44 earlier?
Would appreciate it being added here.

Craig.

Two service bulletins recently:
SB87: Replacement of reuseable air filters (Disposable air filters not affected) http://robinsonheli.com/service_library ... 4_sb87.pdf
SB88:Landing gear attach nuts. http://robinsonheli.com/service_library ... 4_sb88.pdf
SB88 only seems to apply to newer R44's. If you have one with old technology 'nuts' then you might be ok ;)

Service letters:
SL50: D210 corrosion resistant nuts to replace existing 'corrosion/cracking prone' nuts.
SL51: New "truss head" screws available for fastening covers and panels.
SL52: Full throttle caution light kit available

Not sure what to think about SL52. It may allow pilots to push the boundaries even more because you are no longer relying on the temp/alt graph to determine max power available. Would be interesting to try one out but probably not worth spending bucks on for general flying. It also looks adjustable. What if it is set to show full power before full power is achieved? Could result in a crash, no?
