Yup, put it on top of the left back seat, where I can see it, but not sure what I would do if it starts smoking :? Probably a little over the DG limit #-o

Took a flight down to Harrismith this morning and found the snow starting just before Platberg. We headed on to Van Reenen and found a spot on a little koppie behind the town.

Initially I wanted to put down next to a picturesque little dam but I couldn't figure out the depth of the snow and the edges of the dam were not clear. I decided on the koppie because I could see tufts of grass sticking through the snow. Nevertheless the snow turned out to be more than 20cm thick.

Putting down I was watching for the start of a "white out" but it never happened. I gently lowered the collective and she crunched through the surface. Thinking I was down I lowered the collective only to drop again. Anyway, she settled about 10cm into the snow and stayed there. She lifted cleanly out of the holes.

Refuel at Bethlehem and back home for lunch. A great morning.

Learnt something new today. Quite chuffed.

PS: Just a post note. Distances seem to be compressed over the snow. Everything looks so much nearer.

Lunch at Kedar Country Hotel yesterday: http://kedarcountry.warwickhotels.com/

Depending on your routing it is about 80nm from Rand, just north west of Rustenburg, tucked up against a small hill. The helipad looks a lot smaller from the air, with trees, windsock and lapa closing it in (Maybe I'm just out of practise!) The helipad is about 100m from the hotel. Nobody batted an eyelid when we landed (received permission the day before) and walked to the hotel passing a magnificent old Eland on the way. They also have pygmy hippos in a fenced off area next to the helipad.

There is a pool restaurant and a main restaurant. We had burgers and Salads at the pool restaurant. The meals were around R45 and were substantial.

Made a nice change from the usual venues.

Cool. Which side of the fence are the lions :?: Photo looks like it was taken from inside the mouth of a lion with the two canines blocking the view
