Got the controls and seats done:

A little bit of wiring:
2018_1001_184614AA.JPG
Then we worked on the doors again, after a break from the fibreglass work we got back to it.
So doors joined, and locking mechanism installed. Next to get them to fit, then hinges and glass.

That is it for now.

Take your time when trimming those doors to fit. Not easy.

Looking good Ian & Theo. It’s such a sensible aircraft to own on so many levels. Look forward to reading more of your build adventures.

So a lot of work later and we have prepped the inside of the cabin and applied the final colours.
Most annoying, the pictures are the right way up when viewed on the PC, but AVCOM seems to rotate them.
Any one with some suggestions?

So the panel is installed, wiring essentially complete, we are awaiting a number of circuit breakers and we will then be able to power it up.

So it is all moving along rather nicely.

Next is to paint the inside of the doors, the fit windows, lift it up for some wheels and spats, then fit an engine, propeller and spinner, sort out the cowls and finish the wings, send it off for paint, get the seats done, rig it all up, then go fly. Not too much to do.

To date we have logged 1173 hours in total. Sort of on track for our planned 1700 hour target.

Well Done...you are getting there! I really enjoyed the avionics part, especially after all the fiberglass work!

Looking at your interior pics, some observations / advice...

The instrument panel and handhold holes are too flexible / weak and have a sharp trailing edge which can cause serious panel rash in an out landing. I take a length of 3003 soft ally fuel pipe and split it on one side. Easy to do, drill a 10mm hole through a block of wood and push the pipe through then split one surface with a grinder and cutting disc. No deburring, place this over the sharp trailing edge of the glare shield and drill a few 1mm holes and wirelock the pipe in place with .020 wire then split a 3/8 rubber hose with a knife and fit it over the tube and wirelock in place. Fill contours with firm foam and cover with leather.

The centre console / tunnel. Ensure you can remove a section ahead of fuel selector and behind rudder pedals to access the fuel pump and fuel flow tx. A hole on the side of the tunnel is also advised. That way you can get two hands in to do the job.

The windscreen. Do you plan to use Van's glue or Sikaflex? Sika 295UV is great but needs to have an exposed joint (no paint) to allow for flex.

Enjoy the build. The RV-10 is an awesome machine. :D

Thanks Chalkie,

We will be putting some forehead protection on the leading edge of the panel shield, it has already claimed a few trophy dings in Theo's head, mine is much harder and does not seem to bleed as easily. I do not have any pictures of the damage to upload.

The plan for the windows is Sika, and we have kept the fiberglass raw in the joggle, so no paint in there. Also do not plan to cover the join with paint as it will certainly crack.

We made up a throttle for the incoming air using some PVC pipe and a servo to control the butterfly,, works nicely and saved some $200 for the one sold by Aerosport.

The build is progressing well, we textured the interior of the doors and then sprayed and finished up with a matt clear coat, we are very pleased with the results.

Awesome =D> =D> =D>

90% done, only 90% to go. Your comment, the doors sure fit nicely. Remember the lid does flex so do not make the fit too close, you will end up chipping the paint. I have some new CB's and CB switches, mostly 5Amp.

The RV-10 is an awesome machine. Hang in there...

So after a visit to Dawie and Jan at the Coves, some effort largely from Theo went in to making a plenum.

This is the result:
20190917_172607.jpg
20190917_172544.jpg
This picture wont rotate. Grrr, anyone tell me how to do it and I will fix it. Tried saving it in different direction but it seems Avcom only likes landscape.

So now we have the connection from the air cleaner to the cowl to do and install our landing light. After that it is wrap up and then fuselage off to the hanger get the wings in for wingtips lights pitot and what not.

The end is in sight.

We had a little help from our friends, seriously the visit to you and Dawie showed us how to go about it. An hour spent with each of you probably saved us dozens and gave us the confidence to get on with it.

Thanks to both of you.
