Unread post by RyanB » Sat Aug 18, 2018 11:57 am

Hi Guys

Does anyone have a set of longeron bending dies that they would be willing to sell, rent or loan please :D

Just about to make the longeron bends for the fuselage and am not keen on messing up

Thank you

Ryan it is not high tech, there really are no dies, jigs, formers. If the structure were critical then Van's would do it. You can do it, just follow the instructions in the plans. Follow them carefully.

Read section 5 at least 3 times. Then read the plans carefully and do the bends incrementally. You CAN DO IT.

It is all part of the learning experience of building your own aircraft. Have fun and enjoy the finished article.

Here is how you do it, but you have to get the tongue just right or the bend does not set properly.

Well done =D>

We all are / were a little apprehensive perhaps tackling that job as each bend causes a reaction somewhere else but the longeron is malleable enough to make it work.
