Alaskan Landing Gear system (ALG)

Unread post by stefan » Fri Jan 13, 2017 9:09 pm

So I have been busy. We made a deal with Beringer and they are now manufacturing this gear system for the Explorer and Safari. I bought myself and two customers each a set of the ALG gear. (lets rather not discuss the price) This will be installed in my next plane which I will take with me to the USA. I will probably fly it there but lets not get ahead of ourselves. I will try and keep this post updated as I build the plane.

Looking good. And I hope this becomes the standard for future Safaris :) and grows, like in Alaska, a LSA / VLA "bushplane" culture in SA !

A technical question if I may. Why not take the gear strut mounting points forward that extra foot to the firewall ? I would assume that the greater the distance between tailwheel and mains the more laterally stable she would be on the ground?

Well done. I hope to one day fly such gear !
