Forced re-entry to the Coronavirus topic.
To the Mods, Please be so kind and re-instate the link for the controversial topic about Hydroxychloroquin. As a pharmacist in S.A. for 50 years, I have done many many prescriptions for Quinine and its derivates to treat Malaria, Rheumatoid arthritis etc. without any problem symptoms etc.
It is a known fact that Hydroxychloroquin has antiviral properties which can be viewed in any edition of the Martindale Pharmacopoeia. This property is undisputed.
What is in dispute is the use in Covid. The reason for my request is for the following reasons:
1) No-one claims that Hydroxychloroquin is effective ON ITS OWN
2) There is a growing number of medical practitioners at the pitface that are getting results with a combination of drugs that contain Hydroxychloroquin as part of the treatment.
Many countries in the world have not banned the use of the product and this unilateral censorship is violating the rights of individuals as it takes their right of access away without their consent.
In South Africa, I can sell the product over the counter without a prescription from a medical doctor as long as it is required for the treatment of Malaria, Arthritis and so on. If a patient wishes to use the drug as suggested by his medical practitioner, I do not have the right to deny the patient the product. I regard it as criminal for countries that require pharmacists to block a legitimate prescription (like in the US at present) I also regard it as criminal to prevent people from assimilating information and making their own choice from that information.
Thanks, Danie
