Embedding YouTube Clips - 2017

Unread post by Roger » Fri Feb 10, 2017 7:58 am

From time to time, YouTube adjust their methods in which one can embed clips into places such as PowerPoint presentations, News Sites and Forums like ours. In recent months we have seen two such changes and it has affected videos embedded into our posts.

In an effort to keep up with these changes and to potentially future proof any upcoming changes we have made a small change on AvCom. We also believe it will make things a little easier too for all our users to embed clips they wish to share.

In order to embed a clip now - click on the 'YouTube2017' button at the top of the new posting screen.

This will insert something that looks like this:

Code: Select all

[YouTube2017][/YouTube2017]
Then between the two tags simply paste the YouTube video number, like this:

Code: Select all

[YouTube2017]5ROVWsnGBmM[/YouTube2017]
The YouTube clip number is evident in just about all the formats of youtube addressing, whether it be https://youtu.be/v=jd90i32e or http://www.youtube/watch=jk2wjkjkjkdjk

We hope this simplifies this for you.

So we get rid of the How The Thunder Pig Ski nonsense before the "valid data" :D

Pretty much, although some formats may have the valid data stuck in the middle - such as this one:

But my belief is that most of our users are savy enough to pick out the correct bit from the "Thunder Pig"
